Coogee to Bondi

Hurtling towards the rocky coast, the waves crash against the boulders, sending sea salt and spray into the warm air. If you're lucky enough, the combination is just perfect that you will be able to witness a quick glimmer of a rainbow stretch itself out across the whitewash as the waves recede back out to the sea, only to return moments later.

Three Days in the Making

Have you ever wondered what goes into the handmade bag that you swing over your shoulder almost everyday? Do you wonder how long it takes to put it altogether?

I hadn't either, until I met Jay.

Surf, Sun and Volcanoes

The silent ancient volcanoes look on, as the waves roll in from the ocean.
It's hard to believe that there could be anywhere more beautiful to learn how to surf.

It's also hard to imagine that there could be anyone more fun to learn to surf with than with Aldo. Aldo, our surfing instructing runs his school, Epic Lanzarote Surf, Kite and SUP (stand up paddle) School from the beautiful outstretched beach of Famara on Lanzarote Island.

Island Transformations

As I discovered on the island of Lanzarote, it's not all about the surf and sun. In a studio tucked away on the streets of Arrecife, the capital of the island, stands a studio filled with flair, creativity and a lot of paint!

My incredibly talented friend, Naomi (I'm being modest because I know that I'll embarrass her otherwise) finally began the journey of opening her own studio of decorative painting.  Named Nyamuk, she specialises in giving your treasured pieces of furniture a new and revitalised lease on life by transforming them in a way a caterpillar morphs into a beautiful butterfly.

Desert Wanderers

Wind swept plains and howling night gales combined with an otherworldly feel; travelling through the untamed region of Colombia's north west, otherwise known as La Guajira is sure to leave a deep impression on you.

Deep in La Guajira is South America's most northern land point, Punta Gallinas. Reaching Punta Gallinas involves driving through the wide open desert from Cabo de la Vela. However, the journey does not end there; with a change in transport from a four wheel drive to a boat back to another four wheel drive to the continent's northern edge.

The Wayuu and the Mochila

According to legend, the women of the Wayuu were taught how to weave patterns by a spider.

This story, however is not about a mochila but about how I came to meet a beautiful Wayuu woman in the wild and distant region of La Guajira.

Taking flight. Destination: Angels Falls, Venezuela

Flying has always been something that I love. I love it even more when I get lucky and score the window seat! "Shotgun!"

Flying in a light aircraft, however always adds so much more excitement and adventure to any flight! I took this photograph when I noticed that another light aircraft had joined us as we both roared across the skies over the remarkable plateaus and jungles of Venezuela.

Here, we're en route to experience the world's tallest waterfall, Angel Falls but first, there was a valley of clouds to make our through.
